FAQ

Q:  What is open circuit potential?

A:  The open circuit (oc) potential is the potential of the working electrode relative to the reference electrode when no potential or current is being applied to the cell.  When a potential is applied relative to oc, the system measures the open circuit potential before turning on the cell, then applies the potential relative to that measurement.  For example, if the initial potential is set to +100 mV vs. oc in the software and the measured open circuit potential is +300 mV, then the initial potential will be set to +400 mV.
